OPS - O'Connell Center Technician
Job Description:The Stephen C. O’Connell Center is seeking technicians to fill various A/V roles for the hundreds of events the building serves each year. The applicant must be willing to learn how perform each job function to the best of their ability, including: audio mixing, stage building, crew management and electrical services. While the O’Connell Center provides training on all these functions, it is the technician’s responsibility to master these skills and come to each shift well prepared. A good technician is both knowledgeable and flexible. Duties and responsibilities for a technician include, but are not limited to:
Working at least 25 hours a month
Attending monthly meetings for the building’s technical division
Participating in the ongoing training program, both to better one’s own skills and mentor others
Submitting staffing availability on time, and in the correct format
Responding to all work correspondence in a timely manner
Being willing to work any shifts for which you are available
Being willing to work for other departments in the building, as needed
$9.45/hr. after training and a 120 hour probationary period. ( $8.85 while training.)
Minimum Requirements:Must be 18 years of age or older to be hired. If hired, applicant is expected to work at the O’Connell Center for at least two years. Applicant must be able to lift 25 pounds. Applicant must work at least 25 hours a month, including nights and weekends. Employees are also expected to work holiday shifts. Applicant must be willing to be trained in the use of heavy machinery.
Applicant will be expected to complete a 10-day training course within the first three weeks of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous technical experience (audio, video, or lighting)
Previous customer service experience
Ability to adapt quickly
Strong communication skills
Ability to work more than the minimum requirement of 25 hours a month
