Job Description:

The Associate/Director of Development will serve as one of the primary development officers on behalf of theInstitute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) at the University of Florida. Responsibilities include: Portfolio Management Responsible for the overall management of fundraising identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardshipof prospects at the mid-range to major gift levels. Focus on individual prospects and work with leadership, corporate and foundation prospects where gift/grantis assessed at $50,000 and above. Build a portfolio of fundraising prospects and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits tobring major solicitations to closure. Collaborate with the Office of Estate & Gift Planning team to develop and implement a gifting strategy forqualified donor portfolios at the planned giving level. Qualify potential major gift targets and prepare appropriate materials such as proposals and fact sheets. Development Strategy Assist with planning, organization and direction of the private support programs for IFAS program areas including academic programs, research and extension. Contribute to the planning and implementing of short and long-term development and alumni programs andfundraising strategies for IFAS. Design solicitation strategies on a case by case basis, being cognizant of development and college office needs and procedures. Provide development and volunteer management support for Nature Coast Biological Station Donor Relations Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan to inform constituents andidentified markets about the mission, vision, and values of the unit, its funding priorities, and gift opportunities. Develop and present major gift proposals and acknowledge and recognize gifts in ways that are meaningful to donors and appropriate to the vision, mission, and values of the unit and UF Advancement.Initiate, plan, and support activities and events for SHARE Council key volunteer group. Create a structured process for the identification, recruitment, evaluation, recognition, and replacement ofvolunteers to strengthen fundraising effectiveness. Participate in recruiting experienced and diverse leadership on boards and/or committees in order to ensure that these groups are representative of, and responsive to, the communities served. Administrative Ensure best practices in office systems, practices, files and record keeping; ensures effective use of strategictools and resources such as contact reports, prospect management, research, and analysis, and the Advancedatabase. Plan and monitor the budget, using resources for best results in fundraising and planning activities involvingvolunteers, prospects, faculty and administration. Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities andfunctions related to this position.

Expected Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of relevant experience. Valid Florida driver license

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess: Three to five years of development, sales, or related experience. The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with atalent for motivating volunteers. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse constituencies, meet deadlines, be self motivated, and work independently. Accuracy, attention to detail and a customer service oriented attitude. Ability to work collaboratively and a team player. A strong understanding of budgeting practices and financial accountability and the ability to manage resources with prudence and efficiency. Competency in problem solving. Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency. An appreciation for and support of diversity in the workplace in all its forms; proven success working withstakeholders; project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; organizational skills; andthe ability to lead, influence and motivate others are required. Working knowledge in these areas: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, internetbrowsers, preferably Internet Explorer, E-mail. Working knowledge of a donor database, contact managementand tracking system. The ability and willingness to travel. A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.**Business expenses are reimbursed through a standard accounting system. The ability to pay for expenses using your own personal credit card or funds and have them reimbursed is essential.
