Registered Nurse

Coastal Carolina University seeks applications for the position: Registered Nurse (full-time position with benefits) in Student Health Services.

Duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting medical provider(s) with patient care; providing direct nursing care to students by utilizing nursing protocols in the provision of nursing care (assess, plan, implement and evaluate); utilizing established standards, policies and procedures to problem solve; administering medications/vaccination; facilitating off-campus referrals for specialized care; documenting patient encounters; providing health education through daily interactions with students; monitoring clinic flow; providing allergy injections; ability to assess students, faculty, staff and related contracted vendors as deemed appropriate by Auxiliary Services Department, perform clinic procedures such as but not limited to basic in-house labs, process specimens for outside laboratories, blood draws, start IV’s as needed, perform EKGs, etc. ; provide patient triage and assessment and obtain health information and relevant data utilizing established standards, policies and procedures; utilizing infection control measures and nursing protocols in the provision of nursing care to triage when indicated; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: An Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program, or a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and a valid license to practice as an RN in the state of SC are required. A Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in a university student health center are preferred. To effectively fulfill the duties of the role, candidates must possess the skills to be able to assess student health problems and make decisions regarding disposition of care; knowledge in urgent care, women’s health and routine medical issues; working knowledge of pharmacology terms and concepts, all medications, lab tests and treatments; the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and excellent organizational skills.
