About This Position

The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine's Office of the Executive Dean for Research has an exciting career opportunity for a Director, Research Support. The Director of Research Support oversees the Research Development and Support (RDS) Unit within the Office for The Executive Dean for Research (EDR) and support activities related to research administration with the goal to increase the Miller School of Medicine's (MSOM) competitive advantage in obtaining NIH funding by leading a team of research administrative professionals who form the core of research administration at the MSOM. S/he will grow the portfolio of units who currently have small grant portfolios and oversees the internal awards for the Scientific Awards Committee (SAC), Internal Administrative Committee (IAC), and Glaser Committee. S/he will also serve as an advisor to the RDS team on issues of research funding.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study; Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of five years of relevant experience; 8 years experience preferred. Knowledge of business and management principles. Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations. Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan. Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others. Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others. Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Outstanding organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to oversee and handle multiple projects. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
