JOB SUMMARY:

The Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) reports to the Senior Associate Vice President within the Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) division.

The successful candidate will:
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward public/private corporations and regional/national/international foundations for the purpose of securing gifts/grants for Clemson University's institutional priorities, academic programs and initiatives.
  • Establishes long-term relationships within the corporate and foundation sectors.
  • Works collaboratively with administration, faculty, development officers, academic and athletic programs, research centers and institutes to enhance relationships with the goal of securing and increasing philanthropic support.
  • The Executive Director will manage a team of fundraising professionals and maintains a personal portfolio of 80 - 100 prospects within a high-performance, metrics-based team environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


JOB DUTIES:

50% - Essential - Fundraising: Manages Clemson University's Corporate and Foundation Relations philanthropy program, including recruitment, orientation, mentoring and fundraising activities. Provides leadership and staff oversight for Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) team members. Coordinates and facilitates development colleagues, faculty, Deans, unit directors, volunteers, administration and staff to identify and solicit corporate and foundation support.

20% - Essential - Collaboration and Communication: Works closely with internal and external partners to promote and solicit funding from viable corporate and foundation partners and prospects. Works collaboratively with the Office of Corporate Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives (OCPSI), Clemson University Research Foundation (CURF), Total Campus Marketing (TCM) in Procurement and Business Services, the Provost Office and all Colleges/Units. Must be inclusive, collaborative and demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.

15% - Essential - Research and Proposal Development: Conducts research and maintains in-depth knowledge of all University policies and priorities. Participates in structured sessions with colleagues to coordinate prospect identification, engagement, strategy building, proposal development, solicitation and follow up.

10% - Essential - Stewardship and Donor Management: Provides thoughtful, consistent and appropriate stewardship including impact statements/reports and other measures of accountability. Monitors gift invoicing for scholarship and fellowship awards to ensure that they are awarded appropriately. Enters all development activity in the BBCRM database system in an accurate and timely manner. Oversees site visits for corporate and foundation donors/prospects, working closely with development officers, faculty and University partners. Arranges and participates in visits with corporations and foundations with University leadership, as needed.

5% - Essential - Representation and Liaison: Represents the University to foster positive public image. Coordinates benchmarking of best practices for corporate and foundation relations with peer institutions. Works closely with Clemson University volunteers to increase corporate and foundation awareness and engagement.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience - 7+ Years of Development / Fundraising with a focus in Corporate and Foundation Relations

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Master's Degree

Work Experience - 10+ Years of Fundraising Experience in Higher Education Preferred.

Education - Master's Degree

Work Experience - 10+ Years of Fundraising Experience in Higher Education Preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Overnight Travel - Extensive travel. Overnight, day, evening and weekend hours required.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Salary commensurate upon experience.
