Pre-employment criminal background checks are required for all Staff and Faculty positions. Pre-employment urinalyses drug screens are also required for all top candidates considered for positions in ACC's College Police department.

To provide TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) recruitment and programming for program-eligible students, including advising, educational and career planning and other personal and academic supports needed for academically and/or economically disadvantaged students to successfully complete a college degree/certificate and/or transfer to a university.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A GRANT POSITION WITH FUNDING THROUGH AUGUST 31, 2025. Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Manages TRIO programming in conjunction with Project Director, including recruitment and selection of participants; coordination of outreach activities, and academic support services; development of promotional materials; and conducting program assessments and evaluations.
  • Provides counseling for individuals and groups, including career and educational planning, decision making, values clarification, and understanding and overcoming barriers to academic success. Provides crisis intervention, coordination of care and referrals as needed.
  • Provides academic counseling and advising, including course selection, degree planning, review of transfer information, and determination of ultimate employment objectives.
  • Analyzes information about individuals through interviews, assessments, and records to appraise their interests, abilities, and potential barriers to academic success.
  • Provides case management services through on-going contact and follow up with students, and coordinates referrals to college and community services as needed.
  • Gathers and updates data, analyzes, and incorporates data in working on solutions for students and also to distribute caseloads.
  • Assists with college-related community outreach, networking, and recruiting students for TRIO program.
  • Participates in program planning, development, and documentation including meet ups and workshops for TRIO student participants, such as academic success topics and assistance with financial aid, scholarship, and transfer applications.
  • Assists in writing and developing program communications for participating student, webpage and outreach material and opportunities.
  • Ensures that all guidelines regarding TRIO student eligibilities are met.

    College admissions requirements, programs, and courses. Multicultural education programs and systems. Theoretical and program implementation strategies to effectively support student success, especially for low income and under-resourced college students. Trauma informed care counseling. Case management. Community resources, including assistance in applying for federal, state of local assistance. Academic coaching theories and implementation. Platforms for effective communication with students, including texting and video conferencing.SkillsMust possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Counseling and advising students on program guidelines and requirements. Assessing student needs and providing appropriate resources and/or referrals.     Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software. Use a variety of social media and webpage platforms.Required Work Experience


  • One year related work experience.
  • Required Education


  • Master's degree.
  • Other Preferred Qualifications


    Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW). Experience in case management. Work experience with TRIO target populations including, but no limited to, underrepresented groups in higher education, first-generation students, low income or disability populations. Experience providing individualized counseling to high school or college students, including assisting students with course selection, financial aid, and college enrollment. Demonstrated commitment to supporting the academic needs of students facing barriers to educational success through academic coaching/advising, counseling, instruction, advocacy, and/or education. Experience in an educational setting teaching, advising, and/or tutoring low income, first-generation college students.Physical Requirements


    Work is performed in a standard office environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.Safety

  • ACC Benefits OverviewFull-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
