Hiring Department Touhill Performing Arts Center Responsibilities
  • Prepare Audio Services Department equipment and systems to support event use: this may involve scheduled, preventative, and emergency maintenance and repair; responsible for inspecting all finished work for adherence to quality, functionality, and equipment warranties and safety.
  • May advance events either partially or entirely with clients to gather details and translate them into understandable instructions to complete a successful event.
  • Operate live equipment and/or supervise crew members assigned to the Audio Services Department; uphold the highest possible quality of services.
  • Perform other duties as priorities and work schedules require, including work in other disciplines within Production Services. May function as building manager (Duty Staff or Call Chief) during work, or on events.
  • Catalog and maintain relevant documentation and specifications, as well as PAC-specific digital libraries and files; organize and preserve equipment and storage areas, digital recordings, and playback files for posterity and distribution.
  • Contribute to developing department work assignments, assist in department and event budgeting, assist with purchasing of department equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinate with other Production Services entities, campus entities, and other parties to ensure an event is properly supported.
  • Supervise, assign, guide, and train part-time and student crew members toward success specifically within the Audio Services Department.
Minimum QualificationsA Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced skill in audio production, live reinforcement, and recording of live events.
  • Vast knowledge of microphone specifications and use. Broad experience with consoles (digital and analog) and PA systems.
  • Thorough understanding of audio concepts, such as dynamics, time-based processing, equalization, signal flow, and mixing techniques.
  • Advanced computer experience, network manipulation and systems skills.
  • Basic experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products.
  • Excellent communication skills, working with broad levels of experience and expertise from the novice user and/or student to professional productions.
  • The ability to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends, is essential.
  • Successful candidate, as a working supervisor, will be expected to perform all typical crew member duties including working at heights on lifts and ladders, lifting and pulling heavy objects and other strenuous activities.
  • Advanced experience with post production using recording software.
  • Advanced experience with audio recording, and/or editing.
  • Experience in video recording.
  • Experience with installations and system maintenance.
  • Previous touring or roadhouse experience, or experience with a performance hall within an academic setting.
  • Experience working with and training students.
