Primary Purpose of Department:

We provide highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools, and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative, and service goals.

Primary Purpose of Position:

The primary role of a Systems Programmer/Specialist on the OneIT Servers and Storage team is to configure, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot issues on Linux Server Operating Systems as well as various storage and monitoring systems.

Summary of Position Responsibilities:

-Managing and maintaining a Linux infrastructure running Red Hat Enterprise and others operating systems.
-Working in a VMWare environment.
-Managing and maintaining systems using Bash/Python or other scripting language.
-Managing and maintaining systems and services in Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Minimum Education/Experience:

-Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
-3-5 years of relevant experience
-Experience managing and maintaining a Linux server infrastructure environment.
-Working knowledge of Bash/Python/BASH/PowerShell or other scripting language
Communication and Team skills.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

-Bachelor’s Degree in related technology field.
-Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud environments.
-Experience with deploying virtual servers in a VMware environment.
-Excellent communication and team skills.
