Job Description Summary

The Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation (PC3I) is seeking an Innovation Manager (Project Manager B) to manage research and innovation initiatives executed across the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Founded at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania, PC3I is embedded at the nexus of research and practice. Our mission is to create, test, and scale solutions to improve how we care for patients with cancer. We bring together diverse experts to improve health outcomes, increase healthcare efficiency, reduce cost growth, and apply the latest science to make cancer care better for our patients, providers, community, and partners.

Position contingent upon funding.

Job Description

The Innovation Manager will contribute to the strategic development of PC3I’s portfolio by planning and implementing projects to develop, test, and scale new solutions to improve cancer care. The Innovation Manager will work independently with oversight from PC3I leadership and project principal investigators. The Innovation Manager will 1) convene interdisciplinary, cross-functional teams comprised of clinicians, administrators, health system leaders, and researchers, to support project development and execution; 2) develop project documentation, including project plans, protocols, workflows, standard operating procedures, and regulatory documents; 3) provide day-to-day oversight, management and coordination across project team members and stakeholders, facilitate meetings, and monitor project progress; 4) execute project activities including ideation, contextual inquiry, literature review, intervention design and prototyping, pilot testing, data collection, and analysis; 5) draft reports, memos, abstracts, blogs, manuscripts, presentations, and proposals; and implement other PC3I activities as assigned.

The Innovation Manager will join an interdisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, administrators and technical personnel with deep experience in their fields. This is an ideal position for an individual seeking experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and exposure to cutting edge research in cancer care innovation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of health services research, healthcare quality improvement, and/or clinical transformation experience in a clinical or academic setting or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to identify and utilize available resources and manage multiple priorities concurrently; strong interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders; proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Preferred qualifications: master’s degree; knowledge of software for reference management (e.g., EndNote, Zotero), electronic data capture (e.g., REDCap), process mapping (e.g., Visio), data analysis (e.g., Stata, SAS, R), content management and collaboration (e.g., Box, Smartsheet), websites (e.g. WordPress), and design (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop); familiarity with electronic health records and digital health technology.
