The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Neuropathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board eligibility/certification in Neuropathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology and an unrestricted medical license/eligibility in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Teaching responsibilities may include participation in a broad spectrum of intra and inter departmental teaching activities for residents, pathology house-staff and fellows, and medical students.

Clinical responsibilities may include participation in sign-out, intraoperative consultations (frozens), call, and attending rotations on the surgical and medical neuropathology service, which includes muscle and nerve biopsies, telepathology and consults. Clinical Molecular Pathology responsibilities may include development, maintenance, and expansion of genomic testing with a particular emphasis on next generation sequencing. Sign-out and management responsibilities are expected in other domains of molecular diagnostics. Excellent communication skills are necessary.
