The Penn Medicine Center for Health Equity Advancement (CHEA) formally launched in 2019 with the goal of creating a learning health system that mindfully strives to achieve equity while developing the evidence-base to inform our efforts.

Job Description

This position will assist in supporting day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives, and research projects for the Center for Health Equity Advancement. The Penn Medicine Center for Health Equity Advancement (CHEA) formally launched in 2019 with the goal of creating a learning health system that mindfully strives to achieve equity while developing the evidence-base to inform our efforts. Uniquely situated within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), University of Pennsylvania Health System, CHEA is home to Penn Medicine Program for LGBT Health and reflects a critical partnership between the Offices of the CMO and the Office of Inclusion and Diversity (OID) at Perelman School of Medicine. The Program Assistant will provide administrative and research support with oversight from Center leadership and project managers. In particular the Program Assistant will support the Healthier Together Study, with the primary objective being to evaluate how health care practices can design interventions that leverage network science to promote cancer prevention behaviors in high risk populations. This 5-year initiative is currently underway. Working with primary care practices serving West Philadelphia, we are better defining how primary care patients are socially connected and how those connections relates to cancer prevention knowledge and behaviors. This position will work within a team that is focused on developing, implementing, and evaluating a strategic combination of system-level, provider-level, and patient-level interventions to provide equitable health care, foster inclusive environments to support a diverse workforce, and engage communities to improve health outcomes for all populations.

The Program Assistant will work with the PI to support Aim 2 of the Healthier Together Study. Duties include but are not limited to: Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations; Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary; Manage and respond to project related email; Attend project meetings; Assist to prepare progress reports; Assist in the development of interview schedules; contact potential subjects to introduce and explain study objectives and protocol and to arrange interviews, either in person or by telephone; Identify and compile lists of potential research subjects in accordance with study objectives and parameters, as appropriate to the individual position; Conduct and record face-to-face and/or telephone interviews with subjects, in accordance with predetermined interview protocol, data collection procedures and documentation standards. In addition, the Program Assistant will provide direct administrative assistance to the Executive Director through calendar scheduling; tracking, scheduling, coordination, and agenda planning for meetings, including supporting the Health Equity Alliance. The Program Assistant will also manage updates and content for CHEA social media and webpage.

Position contingent upon funding.


Qualifications
H.S. Diploma or GED Required, with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Proven time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.

Ability to meet deadlines; work well under pressure in a team environment.

Attention to detail and problem solving skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and planning skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills including MS Word, Excel.
