Job Description: UC Title:CASE MGR EXReports to:Ambulatory Care Patient Supv 2Cost Center:Cancer Center - GYN Oncology (427703) FLSA:ExemptJob Code:007870Shift:Not Applicable Position Number:40317027Working Title:Case ManagerBargaining Unit:UPTEDate Created:12/21/2019Hours:40FTE:1 Position Summary: Under the direction of the Assistant Director and Gyn/Onc. faculty, the Nurse Coordinator functions independently providing direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for the Gynecogical Oncology Service in H.H. Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Functions as the primary contact for patients. Provides education as needed to the patients/family related to cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medication/chemo treatment and other complex aspects of the plan of care. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assures that the continuum of care process is complete to include: pre-procedure & surgery, threapy & chemotherapy protocols, hospitalization, anticipated discharge needs, and follow up in the physician offices. Supports the faculty in clinic for every patient care session. Occasionally performs scheduling of office visits and procedures. The nurse coordinator is accountable for the quality of nursing practice. Provides nursing services as needed and assists with other activities as assigned to help grow the practice and the referrals to UCI. Salary Range:

Required Qualifications:- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in NursingMinimum 6 months experience working as a RN in an Oncology settingCurrent California RN licenseAbility to read, write and communicate effectively in EnglishAbility to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environmentAbility to work effectively with colleagues, physicians and others as part of a care teamAbility to maintain attendance standards of the organization to support organizational goals.Current BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of care and treatment for gynecological oncology patientsSpecialty certification in Oncology NursingONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certificationBilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and familiesUnderstanding of JCAHO requirementsBSN or MSN in NursingWorking experience in an outpatient clinical setting
