Comprehensive Residence Life programs, Dining, and other support services are tailored to the needs of each community. Student Housing is part of the Auxiliary Services arm of UCI Student Affairs, and partners with campus colleagues to support the academic success and well-being of students. Under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, the incumbent performs skilled and semi-skilled custodial duties. Committed to providing our community a friendly and clean living environment. Responsible for following Housing and the University's Mission Statement s and Values. The senior custodian provides support to the custodial staff, deliver supplies and chemicals to custodian's closets. Will operate and maintain vacuum cleaners, buffer's carpet extractor, wet/dry vacs, and floor scrubbing and/or polishing machines. Makes reports on building and/or equipment needs; has security responsibility for one or more assigned areas, may assist in the setting up and dismantling of special set-ups, tables/chairs, equipment and furniture. Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and residents. Has master key responsibilities. Majority of duties performed require a greater degree of training, skill, independence of action, and/or experience than required of non-senior custodians. May act as work leader for a small group of custodians. Compensation Range: Hourly $18.17 - $20.49 Department Website:https://housing.uci.edu Required: One year related experience.Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals. Knowledge of computer skills in documenting, report timesheets, and safety trainings etc. Ability to sweep, mop, dust, polish, and perform semi-skilled custodial and/or general maintenance duties which requires a degree of training, skills, independence of action, and physical effort, and/or experience. Provide Customer Service at all times with everyone you come into contact within our community. Ability to meet the departments: custodial cleaning standards. Ability to operate vacuum cleaners, buffers, wet/dry buffs, carpet extractor and other floor care equipment. Ability to climb stairs or use ladder. Ability to submit written reports, and work orders regarding building and/or equipment. Ability to follow written or verbal instructions. Required to operate a motor vehicle. Ability and willingness to follow policies and procedures of the University and department. Ability to lift and empty waste receptacles. Preferred: Valid driver's license.Experience in guiding other staff members. Ability to assign keys and work areas. Knowledge in setting up tables/chairs and dismantling of special equipment for events. Housing experience desirable. Special Conditions Required: Must be willing and able to provide customer service at all times to everyone you come into contact with. Must be available for some overtime and weekend work, especially during summer months. Final candidate subject to background check.
