About us:

The Enterprise Applications and Solutions Integration (EASI) department within the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) Division is a central department responsible for all matters pertaining to the development, maintenance and effectiveness of the core administrative management and student systems at the U of T. Included within these responsibilities are all central SAP systems, such as Financial Services, Human Resources, Research Administration and Procurement; the central U of T Student System (ROSI); approximately 40 related vendor and specialized web applications, as well as centrally managed digital workplace, ticketing, and document management applications.

Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, Enterprise Applications & Solutions Integration or their designate, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative and innovative team focused on delivering technology solutions tothe University. Through your efforts in this position, you will directly help improve the University’s administrative management and student systems.

The incumbent assists EASI and its clients by scheduling batch production jobs for the student management systems that support the University's student processes and for the administrative management systems that support the University's business processes. The incumbent will work closely with process owners to develop new batch production jobs; optimize existing jobs; and troubleshoot and address any issues related to running jobs. The incumbent will utilize modern scheduling techniques and tools where appropriate and will be responsible for documenting operational details for new and changing jobs. The incumbent will also provide training to Operations/Production Support personnel and process owners in support of new and changing jobs.

Please note that this position will require the incumbent to work early morning and evening shifts in support of production schedules.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up, executing and monitoring production jobs
  • Analyzing client production job requirements
  • Assisting in the establishment of system usage and job schedules
  • Liaising with IT departments and clients regarding translation of business requirements into technical specifications
  • Disseminating information on procedures and practices
  • Keeping well-informed on current technologies, best practices and industry standards
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues - as a technical resource for production related issues
  • Liaisoning with external sources like banks, import customs companies, etc.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum three (3) year relevant experience in areas such as automated office tools, networks, software development tools and techniques
  • Experience with job scheduling software for a batch production environment
  • Experience in a comparable operating or program development environment with a sound knowledge of UNIX operating system and shell scripting
  • Knowledge and experience in SAP would be an asset
  • Experience with IBM Workload Automation (WLA) solution
  • Basic knowledge of XML and JSL (JSR 352 Job Specification Language)
  • Ability to interpret job output/return codes in order to make production decisions
  • Demonstrated reliability, good judgment, initiative, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong organizational and communicationskills
  • Familiarity with personal computer operating systems (e.g., Windows) and Microsoft 365 applications (e.g., Excel, Teams, SharePoint).


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with SAP job scheduling, S/4HANA, SAP Fiori applications, SAP GUI
  • Experience with Redwood job scheduling
  • Familiarity with Jenkins
  • Familiarity with Jira
  • Familiarity with the University environment, governance, and policies.
