The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital are seeking applications for the John David Eaton Chair in Multiple Sclerosis at St. Michael’s Hospital-Unity Health Toronto. The successful candidate must be eligible to hold a Status Only (PhD Scientist) appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. This is a five-year, renewable once, joint University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital endowed chair. The tentative start date of this appointment is July 1, 2021.

The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized scientist with a PhD (or equivalent) who has contributed to understanding biological mechanisms related to MS pathophysiology. The candidate will have demonstrated a record of excellence in scientific productivity and leadership capacity based on administrative positions held to lead a world-class research program related to Multiple Sclerosis that aligns with the strategic priorities of Unity Health Toronto.

Applicants will be evaluated by an Appointments Committee according to University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital policies. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity (including grants, peer-reviewed publications, program development, collaborations with organizations nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows) and contributions to the field.

The endowed chair will support academic activities of the chair holder, which may include salary support, research operations, and relevant educational events.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae (Common CV), a 2-page outline of their academic program (including research productivity, training activities and academic prominence), a 1-2 page description of how the endowment would be used, and the names and contact information of three referees.
