The Department of English at Illinois State University invites applications for a nine-month non-tenure track Instructional Assistant Professor with expertise in Writing Studies and the Teaching of Writing. Applicants should have experience in teaching both introductory and intermediate undergraduate writing courses, and be able to teach writing in academic disciplinary genres and writing in business and professional genres. We especially welcome applicants who demonstrate teaching expertise in socio-cultural and/or cultural-historical approaches to the teaching and researching of writing.

The selected candidate will join our nationally recognized Writing Program, named a “program of excellence” by the Conference of College Composition and Communication in 2015; and will teach ENG 145 and ENG 145.13, in addition to ENG 101. This position offers a 4-4 teaching load with a competitive salary and benefits, renewable contract, and potential opportunities for summer teaching.

• An earned doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or a closely-related field (such as TESOL or English Education).
• A record of successful college teaching in introductory and intermediate undergraduate writing courses.
