FSU's Equal Opportunity Statement can be viewed at: http://www.hr.fsu.edu/PDF/Publications/diversity/EEO_Statement.pdfResponsibilities The Senior Planner serves as the assistant to the Planner-In-Residence (PIR) and lead staff person for the Mark and Marianne Barnebey Planning and Development Laboratory (BPDL), an entity within the Department of Urban and Regional Planning that provides planning services to communities in Florida, the southeastern U.S., and Latin America.
•Supporting the PIR in completing all aspects of contracted planning work for the BPDL.
•Supporting the PIR in administrative duties including grants management and contract compliance, and hardware and software purchase and management.
•Providing teaching assistance to the PIR for 3 project-oriented studio courses per year.
•Providing technical and operational guidance to graduate research assistants employed on BPDL projects.
•Supporting the PIR in the identification of external funding resources and the development of grants.
•Supporting the PIR in marketing the BPDL through professional organizations such as APA, FPZA, ULI and others.Qualifications Master's degree in Planning.
Desirable skills include mapping (ESRI ArcGIS); survey design, conduct and analysis (Qualtrix, Poll Everywhere); and graphic design (SketchUp, InDesign, Canvas).
Strong verbal and written communications and community engagement skills are a must as well as track record showing successful completion of projects, either individually or as part of a team.
Contract and grants management is an essential part of this position and applicants must have a level of familiarity with their administrationPreferred One to three years of professional experience in planning is preferred.
Related relevant work experience can substitute for the planning experience. The ideal applicant would be an adaptable generalist who sees this as an opportunity to enhance her or his planning experience while working with a community of students and scholars under the direction of the PIR.
APA membership and knowledge of Florida’s planning environment is preferred, but not required.Anticipated Salary Range $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 annually (approximately $21 - $26/hour), commensurate with qualifications.Pay Plan This is an OPS/temporary Job.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
