The Studio Art Program in the Department of Art at the University of Virginia seeks a photographer for a three-year position. The studio program is focused on undergraduate studio art education within a liberal arts college.

The successful candidate will be able to teach black and white dark room skills, analog and digital color photography using the most current editing tools, large-format view camera techniques and alternative non-silver processes. The position involves a 3/3 teaching load at the undergraduate level, including mentorship of independent study projects. The workload comprises teaching and instruction, overseeing and maintaining the analog and digital labs for the photography program, and service to the department.

Requirements for the position include an MFA or PhD in Studio Practice and an exhibition record that reflects commitment and continued involvement with the photographic medium. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching and at least three years of full-time college-level teaching experience, beyond a graduate assistantship. Additional experience in the commercial industry is preferred.
