The University of Miami FAU department has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant in Boca Raton. The Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients, under the direction of a physician. Moreover, the incumbent interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. The Medical Assistant also draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
The incumbent in this position obtains vital signs and patients information for inclusion in the patient’s medical records. May give injections or treatments, perform routine laboratory tests under the direction of an attending physician, and assist in other patient care activities such as dressing changes and leg wraps.
Prepares treatment room for examination of patient. May assist with physical examinations by preparing supplies and handling instruments/ materials to the doctor as directed. Provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedure. Clean and sterilizes medical instruments; observes the principles of sterile technique in performing duties. Maintains accurate documentation of all medication / vaccine logs. Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation. Performs and maintains daily control check on required equipment. Assures the clinic is always compliant with all Joint commission requirements and regulations. Orders, stocks, and inventories supplies and assist in performing clerical duties. Clerical responsibilities for physicians during the patient visit (scribe). Performs other duties as assigned.
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: High school diploma or equivalent education is required. Medical Assistant diploma or certification. CPR and HIV certification is required. One year of experience is preferred.
