Advertised Job Summary:The University of South Carolina, College of Nursing is seeking a junior or mid-career faculty member with research expertise in care of persons with chronic condition (e.g., symptom management, self-management, care coordination or other health system innovations). This position is an onsite appointment in Columbia, SC. The faculty member will be core faculty for the College’s SmartState Chronic Care Research Excellence Center, [https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/nursing/centers_and_labs/center_chronic_care/] and make significant contributions to the Center. The Advancing Chronic Care Outcomes through Research and INnovation (ACORN) Center is home to a dynamic, collaborative group of scientists with a vision of optimizing quality of life for those affected by chronic conditions. This individual will join the College of Nursing’s team of junior- and senior-level researchers with established research programs. The College of Nursing has a solid research support infrastructure led by the Associate Dean for Research. The College, University, and community offer a wide range of opportunities for inter-professional research initiatives, adjunct collaborative research appointments and development of PhD prepared scientists. Interdisciplinary research teams are expected and campus resources actively support cross-unit research collaborations.
Required Education and Experience:A science-focused doctoral degree is required in an appropriate field. Candidates are expected to have an established record of successful participation on externally funded research grants, scientific collaboration with junior and senior research faculty, and scholarly dissemination. Experience teaching and/or mentoring students, excellent written and oral communication, and a demonstrated ability to work well independently and with a team are necessary skills.

Effectiveness collaborating with community partners to implement research
History of external funding
PhD-level student teaching and mentorship
