Job Description:

York Country Day School seeks an experienced and innovative part-time Lower School librarian/math specialist for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching young children, knowledgeable of childhood cognitive developmental needs and appropriate practices, well-versed in child-centered learning, and capable of creating an environment that fosters a love of learning. The librarian guides students in the Lower School as they become skilled and effective library users, developing lifelong habits of reading, inquiry, curiosity, and creativity. The math specialist leads students in the area of mathematics and works with students and faculty to provide differentiation for those students with advanced mathematical abilities.

The YCDS faculty is innovative and collaborative and we seek candidates to complement the strengths of our program and to add his or her own expertise and background to provide additional breadth to the core curriculum.

Requirements:

A strong candidate should possess:

• A Bachelor's degree with a major in elementary education.
• A Master's degree with a major in elementary education is preferred.
• Experience teaching mathematics.
• Minimum of five years teaching experience preferred in elementary grades.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to professional growth and personal development.
• Experience in facilitating a library program, including library collection organization.
• Experience with distance learning and Google Classroom.
• Experience integrating technology and applying 21st-century learning within the classroom.
