The primary purpose of this position is to promote theadvancement of education of health professionals in an innovative,interdisciplinary, immersive clinical simulation center through collaboration, planningand oversight of the business operations for the Progressive Anatomy andSurgical Skills Center. This position supportsstudents, faculty, and staff in all healthcare disciplines necessary to forwardthe incorporation of basic and advanced surgical simulation, including the use of donor patients, into the curriculumof health professionals. Serves as theliaison for the development of industry projects, research, utilization,contracts, and revenue producing relationships. This position also helps faculty innovate,design and implement a surgical simulation curriculum for multiple disciplines.Conducts evaluations and critiques of programs and solicits recommendationsfrom both internal and external customers. Manages and leads in maintenance ofsurgical equipment, surgical simulators and scheduling of staff related tosurgical activities. Maintains accurateinventory of cadaveric tissue and anticipates needs related to acquisition,preparation and disposal of cadaveric tissue. Participates and support researchactivities that focus on educational and clinical outcomes.
Qualifications:Education/experience/licensing:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with at least 2 years of clinical experience.Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Background (3-5 years) in previous surgical simulation. Surgical training in multiple specialties is highly desirable.May have background in Surgical Technology, Nursing, Physician Assistant.
- Knowledge of advanced, web-based technology & strong computer skills required with competency in computer technology.
- Experience as an educator for students and medical professionals.
- Knowledge of outcomes development, measurement, and research.
- Past work with industry partners is highly desirable.
- Previous leadership experience.
Communication and other skills:
- Superior organizational, planning, communication and customer service skills required.
- Must be able to relate to multiple disciplines within the medical field.
- Able to synthesize and use critical thinking to problem solve.
- Be willing to take part in the evolution of a new field of practice and contribute to the development of a new “high-profile” entity.
- Multi-tasking and ability to maintain high level of customer service especially in high pressure situations.
