Department of Medical Imaging, University of Arizona A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Russell S. Witte, PhD in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Arizona (Tucson, AZ). The successful candidate will assume a lead role in developing acoustoelectric brain imaging technology, combining ultrasound with radiofrequency sensing to map electrical currents in the body. The successful applicant will work closely with a team of engineers and physician scientists to build and validate bench-top imaging systems before translation to the clinic for further evaluation and refinement.

- Develop imaging protocols using a programmable ultrasound platform (Verasonics™).
- Apply advanced principles in US signal processing and beamforming.
- Solve inverse problems in ultrasound and bioelectricity.
- Analyze multidimensional datasets.
- Conduct experiments in tissue-mimicking phantoms, biological tissue, animals or humans.
- Produce high quality publications and mentor teamof graduate and undergraduate students.
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering, ElectricalEngineering, Optical Sciences, Applied Physics or related field.
- At least three publications in biomedicalimaging and/or advanced signal processing.
- At least four years’ experienceworking with hardware and instrumentation.
*Candidate shall be self-motivated, able to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment, and have a track record of quality publications in biomedical imaging involving ultrasound, signal processing, and imaging systems. *Experience with Vantage open platform ultrasound system by Verasonics™.*4+ years’ experience with bioinstrumentation (e.g., oscilloscope, function generator, scanner).*4+ years’ experience in Matlab™/C++ or Labview.*2+ years’ experience with acoustic modeling software.*Fluency in English with excellent writing and presentation skills.Experience with any of following: acoustoelectric imaging, electrical impedance imaging, EEG current source analysis, functional brain imaging, solving inverse problems, electrophysiology, ultrasound signal processing, pulse encoding and reconstruction, radar, K-Wave, FOCUS, Field-II, SolidWorks, 3D printing.FLSA:
