Position Summary:

UCI MIND is an Organized Research Unit focusing on basic and clinical research in the fields of brain aging and cognitive disorders. Our mission is to discover means to improve the lives of people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. UCI MIND is committed to community education with the goals of keeping the community informed of our progress, sharing learnings that can help community members reduce their risk for dementia.

Under direct supervision incumbent will perform operational level work in a research laboratory requiring delicate manual and manipulative skills. Incumbent will be required to carry out a battery of animal behavioral testing, bench work, data collection and basic lab maintenance.

Compensation Range:

$19.94-$23.45

Required:

Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, genetics, molecular biology or other closely related field. Highly motivated and service-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to communicate clearly and tactfully with a broad variety of people both verbally and in writing. Proven ability to function effectively as a team member and follow detailed laboratory directions. Basic computer skills including using excel and preforming statistical analysis on research data. Previous experience with basic laboratory techniques.

Preferred:

Experience with animal behavior testing, mouse handling and habituation. Experience with general laboratory procedures including ELISA, fluorescence immunohistochemistry and protein assays.
