The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, fixed-term position at the Clinical Instructor level to join the UNC Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) operating in Wake County. ACTT is an intensive, multi-disciplinary, community-based, mental health service targeting adults with primary severe and persistent mental illness as well as co-occurring substance use disorders, chronic medical issues, and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for the coordination of ACTT services for an assigned group of individuals served by the ACT Team, including the assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of evidence-based interventions, rehabilitation, and support services. Additionally, the applicant may be responsible for supervising and training of students and interns rotating through the department.
ACTT services target individuals who have significant functional impairments, as well as complicating treatment factors including frequent psychiatric hospitalizations, homelessness or housing instability, criminal justice involvement, or other barriers to engagement in more traditional office-based services. This position serves as the primary therapist on the team and should have knowledge and familiarity with best-practice therapeutic approaches for adults with primary psychotic disorders. Additional areas of focus for this position will be based on the clinical needs of the caseload and could include integrated dual disorders treatment for co-occurring disorders, housing, employment, psychiatric rehabilitation, or other evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
Applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in a mental health or related field (Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology) and one year of direct work experience with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Licensure, full or provisional, is required.Qualifications and Experience:
Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous support services. Must have a valid NC driver’s license. Experience working in Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) or other community-based or outreach models is preferred.Equal Opportunity Employer:
