Job Description Summary
The Clinical Research Coordinator A will be responsible for coordinating the Academic Associate Program at the University of Pennsylvania. The Academic Associate Program provides students with an opportunity to learn how to conduct clinical research studies and to be part of a clinical team in a high-acuity healthcare environment. The Clinical Research Coordinator A will work closely with the project manager and principal investigators to select Academic Associates each semester, and s/he will manage the day-to-day operations of the Academic Associate Program in the Emergency Department at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The Clinical Research Coordinator A will also be responsible for coordinating other emergency medicine research studies as assigned. Duties of this role may include screening and enrolling research participants, maintaining regulatory compliance, abstracting and entering data, developing research materials, coordinating conference calls and meetings, assisting with training, and performing other duties as assigned. This position may involve approximately 30-60 hours of on-call time per week and travel to national study meetings (up to one per quarter).
Job Description
This position will assist in the management of multiple clinical trials and responsibilities in specific research area. Coordinate the screening of patients, subject enrollment, collection and storage of biological samples and related study documents, and collection of clinical data. Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) filings and inquiries, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, and research related presentations. Works closely with the Principal Investigator, manager, and study team to identify problems and develop solutions. Implement approved changes to procedures as needed and monitor results. Responsible for study coordination for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects.
Position contingent upon funding.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
