Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and independent senior scientist to join a team of post-doctoral fellows and research specialists developing cell-based immunotherapies including CAR-T cells for use in canine patients at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine.
Job Description
The Research Specialist B/C will have expertise in cell and molecular biology techniques including recombinant protein production, purification and analysis, ELISA, Western blot, flow cytometry and cell-based assays including proliferation, cytokine production and cytotoxicity. Experience with retroviral and lentiviral production, cell transduction and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be able to work well both independently and in a team environment, and in some instances may also help oversee smaller projects performed by undergraduates or college students. The successful candidate will have the ability to plan experiments out 2-3 weeks ahead of performance. Other responsibilities include general lab duties (ordering supplies, biosafety maintenance), report writing, preparing presentations for lab and other meetings. The ideal candidate will also have good interpersonal skills to interact with individuals within the lab, within neighboring labs and with clinical staff in the veterinary hospital.
Qualifications
Research Specialist B
Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Bioengineering/Immunology and 1-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Research Specialist C
Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
This position is contingent upon funding.
