We are a hiring Resource Technologist A to support a new Penn Immune Health Initiative.
Position contingent upon funding.
Job Description
We are a hiring Resource Technologist A to support a new Penn Immune Health Initiative. The candidate will be responsible for the tasks listed below:
Ordering, lab inventory, and equipment
- Order reagents and lab supplies for the processing unit
- Optimize and oversee inventory management system for lab consumables for efficient ordering, supply tracking, and seamless restocking
- Work with Processing Manager to oversee equipment operations and maintenance
- Assist other members of the team and perform tasks as assigned, including biohazard waste collection, package distribution, etc.
- Interact with building management to ensure proper support for lab facilities
- Help maintain BSL2 and BSL2* safety regulations
Sample tracking, storage, and organization
- Pick up clinical samples from on-campus clinics and deliver to the processing unit when Clinical Research Coordinators are unable to do so
- Deliver clinical sample over-flow to Human Immunology Core
- Work with the Sample Manager to organize, manage, and store processed clinical samples using the LabVantage system.
- Work with the Sample Manager to pull and record requested samples.
Data input and management
- Record clinical sample processing records in computer database
- Perform QA to ensure that all samples are properly recorded in the computer database system
- Alert Processing Manger to any discrepancies in records
- Become familiar with the LabVantage system for label making, sample storage, and sample organization
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 0-1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Candidate must have experience preparing human biospecimens for downstream scientific assays. Additionally, attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is required. Must have computer experience.
