About Central College:

Dates: June 2021. Anticipated schedule: June 7th- July 16th (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, M-Th and 8:00 am to 12:00 am, F.) Five to six additional hours of pre-summer training and preparation will also be required in May. The final schedule will be set by the Upward Bound associate director. May need to travel on a summer field trip to Omaha on July 6-7 and July 9-10.
The function of Position: The Upward Bound (UB) Summer Student Attendance and Health Needs (SAHN) Coordinator is a collaborative member of the UB summer program team. This 35 hours per week position functions during the four weeks of the Central College UB residential program. The position is paid hourly at $15/hour.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors and tracks student class attendance.
- Manage communication and scheduling with respect to attendance and student health needs among UB staff, parents, Pella Regional Clinic and Hy-Vee Pharmacy.
- Transport/accompany students to and from daytime medical appointments.
- Maintain required documentation of services and contacts
- Enforce Central College protocols for Covid-19
Supervision: General supervision. This position reports to the UB associate director in the Pre-College Programs Area.
Qualifications: AA or BA (Health or Health Sciences degree preferred but not required) with 1-2 years related experience; valid driver's license, Mandatory Reporting and CPR training (or UB will provide), excellent verbal and communications skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, experience with the target population.
