Director of Alumni Career & Professional Development
The University of Tennessee Alumni Association and its system office is seeking a motivated individual to serve as the Director of Alumni Career Services. The Director will Report to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Affairs and Advocacy RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee the Alumni Association’s emphasis on career services, professional development and networking programs. This includes working actively with the Career Services offices in Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Martin and with the alumni affairs staff at the UT Health Science Center. Services include but are not limited to individual and group advising opportunities, self-assessment and career strategies for those transitioning in career roles.
- Collaborate and partner closely with alumni at the corporate level to volunteer for career/industry related activities and to serve as professional networks and resources.
- Identify and implement technology solutions including social media and software that can be used by both alumni and students to network, post jobs, search for jobs, and discuss relevant topics.
- Identify, plan, market and implement events and programs in key geographic markets, including social/networking events, timely and relevant speakers/seminars, job fairs, and other programs of relevance to alumni both in-person and virtually.
- Identify, develop and implement opportunities for collaboration between the UTAA, the UT Foundation, and other university entities that would be mutually beneficial partnerships for all parties.
- Develop webinars or online programs that will provide guidance and instruction to alumni in areas such as leadership development, career advancement strategies, skill development, job search strategies, etc.
- Provide regular verbal and written reports to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Affairs and Advocacy
- Lead the UTAA Board of Governors Career Services committee to review and recommend new programs and services.
- Assist in staffing key events, board meetings, committee meetings and other programs as needed.
- Other duties as assigned related to alumni career services or in support of the UTAA activities.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, education, communications, advertising, public relations or related field is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in alumni relations, development, career services, marketing, human resources, campus recruiting or a public relations setting.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, budget management experience are also required.
- Certification as a Career Coach is preferred.
- An advanced degree is preferred, but not required. The ideal candidate will be highly supportive of and committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
