Associate/Full Specialist -Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology
The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Associate to Full Specialist in the Rottiers Lab, exploring the genetics, genomics, molecular biology and biochemistry of sex specific differences in lifespan in C. elegans., at 100% time with an expected start in early 2021.
The research in the Rottiers lab is centered on understanding the molecular mechanisms of aging and lipid metabolism primarily using the model system C. elegans using established techniques such as advanced microscopy, microinjection, cloning, generation of integrated transgenic lines and other genetic manipulations as well as develop new techniques to study sex-specific differences in C. elegans. We are seeking a candidate to contribute to research on this project using techniques such as advanced microscopy, microinjection, cloning, generation of integrated transgenic lines and other genetic manipulations. Additionally, the candidate will analyze data, participate in and present results at lab meetings and in discussions with the PI, as well as write manuscripts. In addition, the candidate will be tasked to mentor and assist in training new incoming lab members.

This position reports to Dr. Rottiers. The initial appointment will be at 100% time for one year with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funding.
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on UC Berkeley Specialist series salary scale. This position provides full benefits.
