Job Summary:
Eastern Washington University and the College of Health Science and Public Health at Eastern Washington University invite applications for a Tenure Track position in the Department of Dental Hygiene to begin August 2021. This position will include didactic, online and clinical teaching.

The Department of Dental Hygiene is housed in a state-of-the-art facility located at Eastern's Spokane Campus in Spokane, WA. The department offers the only Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in the state of Washington, an entirely web-based Master of Science in Dental Hygiene, and has a fully online BSDH degree completion program.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s of Science in Dental Hygiene or related field.
  • Washington State Dental Hygiene or Dental (dentist) licensure or ability to obtain licensure by date of appointment (8/16/2021).
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience within the past five years (clinical practice or clinical faculty).
  • Experience in online teaching.
  • Experience with technology and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Demonstrate potential for scholarship as required for tenure-track.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience in course design and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated high degree of interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who offer one or more of the following:
  • Earned Doctorate.
  • Knowledge of Canvas LMS, eportfolio software, and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Knowledge of the accreditation process.
  • Experience in restorative dentistry.

Responsibility / Duty:
A Faculty Activity Plan will be developed by the end of the first quarter of the selected candidate’s appointment, and will consist of a combination of teaching, research, service and/or release time to perform administrative duties, as negotiated and as needed to meet the business needs of the department.

All faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and in assessment of student learning outcomes.

Faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning. Additionally, the candidate selected for this position may be expected to teach face-to-face classes, hybrid or blended classes and/or online classes according to the needs of the department.

Conditions of Employment:
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment and showing proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. pursuant to U.S. immigration laws.

Salary Information: Minimum salary is $61,967; hiring salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.
