Job Summary
Provides program guidance, academic support, and mentorship for students in the College of the Arts. Works in a support capacity to execute goals to increase retention, progression, and student success.

1. Assists with development of students through advising and mentoring to improve student success

2. Assists with the execution of department initiatives related to retention, progression, graduation, and student success

3. Assists with preparing student success materials needed to meet department goals

4. Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators in the college

5. Participates in department recruitment and retention activities as needed


1. Provides general academic advising services for College of the Arts Students

2. Monitors and provides intervention to transfer students in need of support to enhance their student success and connection to department and university resources

3. Assists with preparing advising materials and the execution of retention, progression, and graduation initiatives

4. Monitors LiveChat software through real-time communication with website visitors

5. Assists School of Art & Design interest-majors with navigation through the portfolio admissions process

6. Assists with social media posting for Academic Advising (Instagram and Facebook)

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted Georgia driver's license required

On the job training

Previous experience in higher education or academic student support

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Able to work as a productive member of a team dedicated to student success
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

Familiarity with resources offered to support student success

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
