Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060. This position will be housed on the Marietta campus.
The Department of Software Engineering and Game Development (SWEGD) represents fields at the forefront of high-impact developments. We take pride in our student-centered degree and certificate programs, which are enhanced by state-of-the-art instructional technology and applied research activities. The distinctions of our programs include high quality and accessibility to both traditional and non-traditional students. The Department is physically located in the Atrium Building on the Marietta Campus. For undergraduates, we offer a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Development. We offer a Minor in Software Engineering and a Minor in Computer Game Development as well. The Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Development is accredited under the general criteria of ABET (www.abet.org). Our graduate programs include a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering (can be taken fully online) and Graduate Certificates in Software Engineering Foundations and Software Engineering. SWEGD enrolls approximately 850 undergraduate and over 150 graduate students. In addition to welcoming full-time students with undergraduate degrees in computing fields, we also cater to two major non-traditional groups of students: those with baccalaureate degrees in other majors and those whose schedules allow for only part-time studies with a wide array of online courses. The department has 12 tenured/tenure track faculty, 8 lecturer/senior lecturers, 1 limited term faculty (2-year appointments), and 8-10 part-time faculty per term. The department is very collegial, and we welcome all qualified applications for the positions.
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Gaming faculty position.
The position involves teaching, advising and maintaining an active research agenda. Primary teaching will include teaching Game Design and Development courses as well as other courses in computing as needed. We are especially interested in candidates with research and/or teaching background in, but not limited to, Computer Game Design and Development, Computer Graphics, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, HCI and Software Engineering. We currently have faculty with research interests spanning the above areas. Strong applicants in other areas of software engineering and game development and design will also be considered. Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
An earned Ph.D. or terminal degree, or its foreign equivalent, in a computing, software engineering, or computer game design discipline or closely related field is required. ABD will be considered; however, terminal degree must be earned by August 1, 2021 as a condition of employment.
