Department Information
The Bachelor of Science in Interactive Design (IAD) provides students with an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach to developing the technical, theoretical, and problem solving skills needed to serve as interaction designers and user interface designers. Housed in the department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design (TCID), the IAD degree focuses on creating well-rounded designers suited to meet the growing marketplace need for interactive/digital design.
Job Summary
The department of Technical Communication & Interactive Design at Kennesaw State University seeks part-time faculty to teach courses in our Interactive Design degree. Ideal candidates for the position will have an active interest in some of the following areas: interaction design processes, user research, user testing, user interface design, and front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Faculty at KSU teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. A commitment to excellence in teaching is expected of all faculty members in KSU's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Qualified out-of-state applicants with demonstrated success in online teaching are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate-level classes related to topics including interaction design methods, user interface design, visual design, and front-end development.
Required Qualifications
Terminal degree (MA, MFA, MS, PhD) in hand by January 1st, 2021 in Interactive Design or related fields or the foreign equivalent, or its equivalent in training, ability, and/or experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Record of past teaching at an undergraduate level
- Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community
- Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses
- Professional experience in the interactive design field
- Experience using industry standard software (Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Cloud)

In 2009, the Kennesaw State Owls completed a reclassification from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I, competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference. During the transition from 2005-2009, KSU teams have won six Atlantic Sun Conference tournaments in five sports, including men’s indoor and outdoor track, women’s soccer, softball and cross-country.
