Department Information
The Department of English is housed in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the largest College at Kennesaw State University. The College offers more than 80 programs of study in both traditional and interdisciplinary fields. It prepares students with a Liberal Arts education that empowers them to understand the human condition, to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century, and to become contributing citizens in a global society.

The Department of English is committed to excellent teaching, scholarship, and community engagement. With over 85 full-time and several part-time diverse faculty engaged in a variety of research approaches, the department models and promotes scholarship and teaching that honors humanistic traditions while making a range of contributions to university and civic life. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of English and English Education faculty position in the Department of English to begin August 2021.

The successful applicant will have documented evidence of teaching excellence and will maintain a productive research program that can successfully compete for external funding. Strong scholarship, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement, is expected of all faculty members in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU. Faculty in the Department teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

This nine-month tenure track position includes the following responsibilities:

    Teaching undergraduate courses in the English Education B.S. program in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities Service to the department, college, university, and/or professional community
  • A consistent schedule of scholarship/research activity and productivity

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications Include:
  • An earned Doctorate in English Education or a closely related field, or the foreign equivalent is required. ABD will be considered; however, degree must be earned before start date.

Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have successful experience in secondary school teaching, student teaching supervision, and instruction of English education methodology courses. Ideal candidates will also have expertise in
    new literacies (including media literacy, online/digital technologies, and technology integration in the classroom) linguistics instruction in secondary English classrooms graduate-level instruction assessment (both candidate assessment and program-level assessment) diversity and inclusion in English education.

National Writing Project experience is a plus.
