The Department of Geography and Anthropology offers a diverse range of programs including degrees in Anthropology, Geography, and Geospatial Sciences, minors in Anthropology, Environmental Studies, and Geography, and certificates in Geographic Information Sciences and Land Surveying. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Anthropology faculty position in the Department of Geography and Anthropology to begin August 2021.

The Department is seeking applicants with an emphasis in cultural anthropology, particularly applied or activist anthropologies. Area of expertise and geographic specialization is open. We particularly encourage applicants with specializations in gender, intersectionality, critical race theory, social justice, medical anthropology, and/or collaborative research with underrepresented communities.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and will maintain a productive research program that can successfully compete for external funding. Strong scholarship, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement, is expected of all faculty members in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU. Faculty in the Department teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

Responsibilities

    Candidates should have a specialization in cultural anthropology with an applied or activist approach. Candidates will be expected to teach one or more of the following courses: Cultural Anthropology, Anthropological Theory, Anthropology of Gender, Applied Anthropology, or Introduction to Linguistic Anthropology. They will also develop and teach upper and lower division electives in their area(s) of expertise.

Required Qualifications
An earned Ph.D. in Anthropology or a closely related field, or the foreign equivalent is required by August 1, 2021, as well as a record of effective university teaching and demonstrated potential for research.

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be able to include undergraduate students in their research and/or supervise independent research by undergraduates.
