Job Summary
The Commons, located on the Kennesaw Campus, is currently recruiting for Customer Service Specialists (Cashiers) to join our University Dining team. Positions available are 10-month status with part-time and full-time.
Hours per week range from 19 hours or less, 20-29 hours per week, or 30+ per week. Full-time employees (30+ hours per week or more), are benefit eligible.
Job Purpose
Provides general food service related duties. Maintains cash and media at registers and counts and reconciles funds during shifts. Ensures a positive guest experience by providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Serves as first point of contact by greeting customers
- Utilizes assigned systems and restocks supplies
- Communicates customer requests or concerns to management
- Maintains awareness of daily menu items and meal plans
- Ensures food quality, including tasting food for quality control
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Required Experience

Previous customer service experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
- Maintains neat and professional appearance
- Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of food service terminology
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations and food handling procedures
SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
- Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
- Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
