The Department of Psychological Science, housed in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, has 43 full-time and several part-time faculty supporting a major and minor in psychology, including a fully online undergraduate program. The department is committed to providing a rigorous education that prepares 2000+ majors (Bachelor of Science) and 100+ minors for careers and graduate training.
With more than 400 full-time faculty and 8000 degree-seeking students, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the largest college at the university, prepares the next generation of leaders in a wide array of fields to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century and become contributing citizens in a global society. Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for two nine-month, non-tenure track Lecturer of Psychology positions in the Department of Psychological Science to begin August 2021.
The lecturers will primarily support the department by instructing a multimodal mix of face-to-face, hybrid, and online undergraduate courses in psychology at our two instructional sites (Kennesaw and Marietta). One position will focus on the area of general psychology and the other position will focus on the area of biological bases to include courses such as physiological psychology and sensation and perception. Additional courses taught will be based on program demand. The current teaching load is 27 credit hours per academic year. Courses are offered during day and evening hours. In addition to teaching, lecturers are expected to hold office hours, attend department meetings, and engage in service to the department.
A Master's in psychology or a closely related field, or its foreign equivalent, is required as well as a record of effective university teaching.
A doctoral degree in psychology, or its foreign equivalent, is preferred. Evidence of online teaching and/or completion of an online instruction certification program such as Quality Matters (or equivalent) is valued.
