The Department of Software Engineering and Game Development (SWEGD) represents fields at the forefront of high-impact developments. We take pride in our student-centered degree and certificate programs, which are enhanced by state-of-the-art instructional technology and applied research activities. The distinctions of our programs include high quality and accessibility to both traditional and non-traditional students. The Department is physically located in the Atrium Building on the Marietta Campus. For undergraduates, we offer a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Development. We offer a Minor in Software Engineering and a Minor in Computer Game Development as well. The Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Development is accredited under the general criteria of ABET (www.abet.org). Our graduate programs include a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering (can be taken fully online) and Graduate Certificates in Software Engineering Foundations and Software Engineering. SWEGD enrolls approximately 835 undergraduate and over 150 graduate students. In addition to welcoming full-time students with undergraduate degrees in computing fields, we also cater to two major non-traditional groups of students: those with baccalaureate degrees in other majors and those whose schedules allow for only part-time studies with a wide array of online courses. The department has 12 tenured/tenure track faculty, 8 lecturer/senior lecturers, 2 limited term faculty (2-year appointments), and 8-10 part-time faculty per term. The department is very collegial, and we welcome all qualified applications for the positions.
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track Lecturer of Software Engineering faculty position beginning August 2021.
The primary responsibilities for the position include teaching and service work with an emphasis on enhancing the teaching mission of the Department. The appointment is for 9 months and also includes the possibility of teaching in summer. The teaching duties will primarily include teaching the first year programming courses. Courses are taught primarily on the Marietta campus of Kennesaw State University and are offered during daytime and evening hours. Sometimes, these courses may need to be taught on the Kennesaw campus. Faculty are expected to teach in a variety of instructional modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
A Master's degree in Computing or a closely related field, or its foreign equivalent, is required.
An earned doctoral degree in Computing or closely related field, or its foreign equivalent, is preferred.
