The Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology (EEOB) is seeking to increase its stature and reputation nationally and internationally while maintaining its culture of instructional excellence. EEOB serves over 2,000 undergraduate majors earning the Bachelor of Science Degree in biology, and over 100 majors in environmental science. Graduate students in the Master of Science in Integrative Biology follow a two-year, research intensive, thesis-based master's program. The department also serves other academic programs including a two-course environmental science sequence that fulfills the general education science requirement for non-majors, and anatomy and physiology courses primarily for majors in the College of Health and Human Services. Faculty research programs provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in significant and impactful research that span multiple areas - contributing to two highly collaborative and interdisciplinary biology Departments at KSU. Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Disease Ecology faculty position. Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to establish an extramurally funded research program addressing important questions in the field of disease ecology. Research programs in our college and department are found at (http://csm.kennesaw.edu/research/index.php
Candidates working in a disease system relevant to the Southern US and Georgia as well as candidates who can develop a collaborative and innovative research program that complements the Department's current expertise are particularly encouraged to apply.
Teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level is expected with specific course assignments based on the applicant's area of expertise. Advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students is expected.
Participation in professional service within the Department, the College of Science and Mathematics, the University and beyond is expected.
Applicants who will promote CSM's commitment to inclusive excellence in STEM research and education are particularly welcome. Required Qualifications
- an earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) in biology or a closely related discipline;
- post-doctoral experience;
- a record of peer-reviewed publications (or accepted manuscripts);
- a research proposal deemed likely to attract extramural funding. An applicant at the Associate Professor level must have a record of successfully securing extramural funding.
