Job Summary
Provide quality and technically relevant instruction in Pharmacy Technician best practices.

Responsibilities

Instruction -
- Provide quality and technically relevant instruction of course curriculum

Inform Program Manager -
- Do not leave class unattended
- Respond to student inquiries
- Keep Program Manager informed of any curriculum or student code of conduct issues
- Be familiar with all emergency procedures posted in the classroom
- Maintain acceptable program quality and satisfaction scores

Feedback -
- Provide continual feedback and various methods of assessment measurement by ensuring student mastery of the following learning outcomes:
a. Explain the legal and ethical guidelines to which a pharmacy technician must adhere

Assessment measurement -
b. Discuss how professional standards and ethical principles impact a pharmacy technician
c. Recall the different classifications of drugs
d. Recognize the different routes of drug administration, forms, and dosages
e. Recognize the basic anatomy and physiology of the human body
f. Demonstrate the essential functions relating to inventory control and purchasing

Learning outcomes -
g. Explain the procedures and techniques related to aseptic technique, compounding, and parenteral dosage preparation
h. Differentiate between trade and generic names and abbreviations of drugs
i. Explain the procedures related to the manufacturing, packaging, and labeling of drugs

Record grades -
- Assess and record grading for all homework assignments, quizzes, and tests

Marketing -
- Participate in marketing of courses to prospective students by providing technical information regarding course content during biannual Open House events

Program evaluation -
- Assist with course/program evaluation and continuous improvement and resolve quiz disputes when necessary

Attendance -
- Record attendance in learning management system

Motivate students -
- Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
- Review syllabus and learning outcomes the first night of class
- Provide sufficient time for students to complete course evaluations
- Do not release class early

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Other Required Qualifications
Must be a RPh or PharmD

Required Experience
Five (5) years working in a retail, commercial, hospital, or compounding pharmacy
Teaching experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
- Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
- Must hold expert knowledge in pharmacy math & calculations drug names & abbreviations, and pharmacy settings

SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
