Southwestern College has announced a national search for a new Associate VPAA (AVPAA). The AVPAA will join an academic leadership team designed to build on the academic strength and creative style of the College’s liberal arts-centered program.
Reporting to Southwestern’s VPAA, Dr. Ross Peterson-Veatch, the new AVPAA will be asked to coordinate and facilitate academic administration on the main campus in Winfield, while embracing and enriching the mission and identity of the College. The expected start date will be no later than early summer 2021. The new AVPAA will step into a role with responsibilities that require cooperation and collaboration with several campus offices and aspects of the academic program in addition to managing this strong administrative network. The AVPAA will be encouraged to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and strategic thinking on substantive issues of enrichment for the academic program.
Founded in 1885 by Kansas Methodists, Southwestern College provides a values-based learning experience that emphasizes intellectual, personal, and spiritual growth. The College is comprised of the main campus in Winfield, appealing mainly to traditional-aged students (approx. 650), and the Professional Studies program in Wichita which, since 1993, has served working adults (approx. 1,500) completing their undergraduate and graduate degrees online.
The Southwestern academic program will continue to thrive under the work of this talented and eager academic facilitator and collaborator. Sustaining efficient administrative processes through a care for detail will be essential. In addition, a vision for possible new connections within and between both campuses and all facets of the program will be encouraged.
Experience as an academic in positions that might include a registrar, dean, division/department chair, or program director, as well as teaching experience, will all be considered substantive preparation for this assignment.
Prior to making application, candidates should review the AVPAA Search Profile at www.sckans.edu/avpaa for more information about qualifications and guidelines for applying. Candidates are requested to submit materials by 12 Noon Central time, Friday, March 19, 2021 for most favorable consideration. All inquiries will be received in full confidentiality by Dr. Thomas B. Courtice, President, TBC Search Consulting, [email protected].
