Position Title:Building Automation System Specialist
Position Summary:William & Mary is seeking a qualified Building Automation Systems Specialists. Position responsible for contract administration (develop scope, issuing contracts, monitoring performance, progress tracking and cost allocation of $1,000,000/year annually worth of BAS related services). Position provided mentoring and BAS training for HVAC and utility technicians. New project support (new software deployment, coordination of trades for assigned projects, commissioning follow up). Oversee implementation and monitor new BAS control strategies. Understand future needs to ensure continuous and effective improvement through the implementation of projects and programs. Key advisor to the Associate Director of Facilities Operation on BAS matters. Conduct diagnostics (code, communication, equipment versus controls failure), coordinate code and set point revisions to insure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all equipment. Support Energy Management initiatives through operational issues identification and coordinating repairs.
Ability to troubleshoot, and correct control issues within HVAC and central utilities’ automation systems. Knowledge of information technology systems (servers, workstations, communication protocols and peripheral equipment) including requirements for various BAS related software and metering databases. Experienced in basic control of air handling units, air distribution, chiller plants, boiler plants and associated distribution systems. Capable of performing or supervising the change in control code to address operational issues. Knowledge of BAS contract management. Ability to contribute to energy conservation initiatives. Ability to develop proficiency in proprietary software programs. Good oral and written communication skills.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum three years’ experience in controls/ building automation systems, HVAC or central utilities.
- Knowledge of BAS system software and hardware, and computers along with a variety of air handling devices and mechanical systems.
Valid driver’s license.
- Experience in programing Siemens and Johnson Controls building automation systems.
- Background setting up monitoring graphics, point trending, metering systems and automation system commissioning.
- Experience within an academic environment of multiple buildings served by central utilities.
- Knowledge of information technology systems (servers, workstations, communications protocols and peripheral equipment).
- Experience configuring and modifying BAS system software and controller logic.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage multiple projects simultaneously from initial project requirement through final solution
$55,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience

Conditions of Employment::This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department.
Position will require reporting to work when the University is officially closed and is subject to overtime.
Incumbent will be required to participate in Facilities Management on-call program. In addition, they will be required to operate the Main Steam Plant in the event of an unexpected absence not covered by the Operations Group.
