Plumber/General Maintenance Worker November 11th 2021
Allegheny College, a small selective national liberal arts college, invites applications for the position of Plumber/General Maintenance Worker. The position is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. The Physical Plant Department is responsible for the operations and maintenance, renovations, and construction of all buildings, grounds, and utilities of the College. These services are provided to develop and maintain a functional, attractive and safe environment conducive to learning and to support the College’s tradition of excellence. The Department has dedicated, professional staff trained in every principle trade required to provide these services and/or to oversee contracted services that the Department does not directly provide.
The Plumber/General Maintenance Worker will perform routine maintenance and repair on all campus plumbing and drainage systems. Including but not limited to: bathroom fixtures,faucets,Indirect/direct hot water tanks,mixing valves,pressure reducing valves,hot water boiler systems,circulating pumps, water softening systems, building sprinkler systems, Pool management and testing, filters, drinking fountains/bottle fill stations etc.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to provide journeyman-level plumbing support for both maintenance/repair and renovation/alteration of college facilities. High school diploma, or equivalent, and five years’ experience in the plumbing trade or related field are required (ten years’ experience may be substituted for education). Experience in commercial, institutional and/or industrial systems is preferred. Certification in pool maintenance preferred but not required.
