Job Summary
Columbus State University has an opening for an Academic Affairs Data Analyst. This position is responsible for supporting the acquisition, management, and analysis of data from multiple sites or sources on behalf of the Office of the Provost and serves as a subject matter expert on the digital catalog and curriculum management system, academic data, and assigned reports. This position plays a critical role in university assessment and Momentum Approach activities.


Key responsibilities will include the configuration of technology solutions supporting the receipt, transformation, validation, and storage of data; as well as ensuring the integrity of the data received. Other significant duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the University Curriculum Committee with the processing of approved course and program updates in CourseLeaf Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM); Oversight and publication of Academic Catalog (CAT).
  • Gathering data from a wide variety of sources; organizing and formatting data for presentation to academic and institutional leaders for decision-making.
  • Prioritizing and responding to requests for information from internal and external sources; assisting in the completion of annual surveys.
  • Reviewing data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Designing, creating, and/or executing ad-hoc queries, reports, and/or processes.
  • Creating and maintaining procedures, workflows and guidelines for Academic Affairs data management.
  • Assisting with managing faculty files in the data management system.
  • Participating in and supporting periodic audit processes and data cleanup activities.
  • Gathering student and faculty data each academic year and preparing reports.
  • Organizing and maintaining files and historical data (paper and digital format) in accordance with records retention requirements; providing administrative support to Academic Affairs including: coordinating meetings, preparing correspondence, maintaining files, submitting purchasing and travel requests, submitting eQuests, etc.
  • Performing all other related duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications
    Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in data analysis and/or reporting. The successful candidate must posses a general knowledge of data analysis and report writing; the ability to run complex reports and organize large amounts of data from a variety of disparate sources; a strong attention to detail; and a high level of organization and time management. The selected candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google document applications.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience with Banner, Digital Measures, TaskStream,and PeopleSoft preferred.

    Proposed Salary
    The annualized salary range for this position is $38,842 - $43,698 and includes full benefits.
