The Interdisciplinary Studies Department (ISD) houses several programs:
*African and African Diaspora Studies
*Comparative American Studies
*Gender and Women's Studies
*Latin American/Latinx Studies
*Native American & Indigenous Studies
Each program offers a minor, and the department also offers courses in Science, Technology, and Society, a degree in African and African Diaspora Studies and Asian Studies and a Master's in American Studies. In addition to academic programs, faculty are deeply involved in research and community outreach activities and organize several student-oriented conferences each year. Job Summary
The Interdisciplinary Studies Department at Kennesaw State University is accepting applications for a pool of part-time open rank faculty positions to teach interdisciplinary undergraduate courses in the area of Science, Technology, and Society. These courses are most often at an introductory level. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience.
STS 1101, our general education course, examines the development and integration of science, technology, and society within a particular area of study. Recent offerings have focused on gender, medical ethics, science fiction, and health.
Part-time faculty are hired from the department's pool of applicants on a semester-by-semester basis. Assignments to faculty in the pool are based on departmental needs and are for one or two courses per semester. Applicants may be asked to teach in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) and courses maybe be assigned at the Kennesaw or Marietta campus. Qualified out-of-state candidates with demonstrated success in online teaching are encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications
A Master's, PhD or other terminal degree, or its foreign equivalent, in an area related to Science, Technology, and Society is required. Candidates with a minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in an area related to Science, Technology, and Society will also be considered.
Must be able to teach in an area of Science, Technology, and Society. Preferred Qualifications
Previous college-level teaching experience is also ideal. Required Documents to Attach
