University of Virginia's School of Continuing and Professional Studies seeks applicants to fill tenure-ineligible, part-time lecturer positions for online teaching in the Accounting and Certified Financial Planning programs beginning summer 2021. SCPS employs academic faculty who have applicable content expertise at the appropriate level, and who provide evidence of recent and/or current professional experience which applies to students' achieving the goals and learning outcomes of the program. These positions may be performed from remote locations.
Specific subject areas needed are in Federal Taxation for Accounting and Investment Planning for Certified Financial Planning.
Instructor, Accounting: A master's degree in taxation, accounting, or in other relevant fields with 18 hours in the content area is required; a relevant terminal degree is preferred. Applicants are expected to hold active CPA licenses.
Instructor, Certified Financial Planning: A bachelor’s degree with 18 hours in the content area is required; a master’s or a terminal degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or in other relevant fields is preferred. Applicants are expected to hold CFA certification.
Two to four years of relevant subject matter teaching experience in a college or university is required; extensive industry experience may be considered in lieu of the required teaching experience. Online teaching experience, experience working with adult learners, a familiarity with the use of technology in teaching, and strong written and oral communication skills are highly desirable.
