AV Support Engineer
The Office of Media & Technology Support Services is seeking candidates for AV Support Engineer role.
The Audio Visual Support Engineer is a full-time position reporting to the Associate Director of Media & Technology Support Services. This is an on-site position with an established work schedule, however the position may also require the ability to work off hours and weekends as necessary to support the needs of the campus.
The primary purpose of this position is providing excellent, highly responsive support for instructional technology across TCNJ's classrooms and technology enhanced spaces. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for Crestron programming, updating user interfaces, firmware, debugging and providing daily support for classes, and assist in installation, testing and maintenance of campus AV/media systems, etc. This position will also be the primary support for the campus wide digital signage system and server with support from the manufacturer. This includes the local content players, server admin as needed, updates and communication with users of the system along with other duties as assigned. Main Responsibilities:
Responsible for design, implementation and updates to user interfaces and programming environments for campus installed Crestron A/V control systems.
Responsible for programming Crestron A/V systems to route, control, manage, and stream information in an integrated environment.
Troubleshoots and debugs new and legacy system software, hardware, cabling, and components.
Integrates compatible third-party hardware and software solutions.
Responsible for campus wide digital signage system support with support from vendor.
Provides detailed project documentation and secure backups of programming assets.
Monitoring, management, and support for learning, collaboration and digital signage technologies across campus
Partnering with campus community to implement technology in learning spaces.
Assisting in the design and implementation of audiovisual and multimedia technologies to support various modes of instruction (lecture, active learning, collaboration, etc).
Working with a wide range of multimedia software including digital audio, video.
Developing instructional materials to support faculty awareness and use of AV/media technologies.
Assist/Lead installation of AV/media hardware in TCNJ campus spaces.
Conducting research to identify potential new and emerging technologies and applications to enhance classrooms and instructional spaces.
Assisting in the administration and support of various enterprise classroom technologies for high-reliability video collaboration and lecture streaming.
Provide training, written documentation and workshops on classroom technology (projection systems, controllers, Smart Boards etc) Collaborate with colleagues & faculty on departmental and institution-wide projects.
Assist with the setup and technical direction of internal and external events (seminars, panels, lectures, film screenings, et. al.), which includes setting up multiple microphones, massive equalization to correct for room defects, lecterns, multiple computers for PowerPoint, projector setup, speaker system setup, setup of recording software and/or hardware along with providing support for virtual meeting scenarios, streaming, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Two years of full time related experience with Crestron (DigitalMedia) AV control system programming, functionality and user interface controls, design, programming and debugging
Programming experience of audio dsp, such as Crestron, BSS, QSC
Knowledge of networking fundamentals such as: TCP/IP, addressing, firewalls, routers, vlans, and VPN
Experience with video conferencing software and technologies
Experience with Windows-based and Mac-based platforms including digital video signal processing including display / presentation
Proficiency with audiovisual technologies including projection systems, audio systems, interactive displays, and audiovisual design and development tools and systems
Commitment to learning and adapting emerging technologies for support of teaching, learning, and collaboration
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong service customer service skills
The ability to lift between 30-50 pounds
Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with a sense of urgency concerning project completion and customer satisfaction.
Years of experience:
5 years of experience working in AV, instructional technology, teaching and learning with technology
Two years of full time related experience with AV control system programming
CTS with 2 years preferred
Successful completion of Crestron CTI-P201 programming course preferred
Experience providing event based production services (i.e. audio mixing, video switching, etc) preferred
