There is an immediate opening for a Professional Research Assistant (PRA). This 12-month position is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus.  Hours of work for this position are variable. The PRA may choose their work hours as best fits in order to complete the work required.

Nature of Work

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus School of Medicine invites applications for a neurosurgery professional research assistant position to develop computational techniques for neuroimaging related datasets. Specific projects will focus on the use of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and other magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data, and the investigation into the use of imaging data through computational analysis and deep learning techniques for prediction and assessment in brain tumor patients undergoing resective surgery and other treatments for primary and secondary brain tumors. 

Job Duties

The candidate will be expected to oversee collection, collation and organization of the neuroimaging data; conduct imaging analyses; and help write/prepare manuscripts. This is a 12-month Essential Position, which requires the selected candidate to be working either remotely or in person depending on the necessary task even during times of campus closure due to weather or other events including occasional night and weekend shifts. The PRA will also train other laboratory personnel in computational and data collection techniques.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $52,000 to $70,000. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

 

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

 

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree (in neuroscience or biomedical related field)

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience in neuroimaging quality control and pre-processing, atlas-based analyses, familiarity with standard neuroimaging tools (FSL, Freesurfer, SPM, etc.,), and/or a strong background in a high-level scripting language (Matlab, Python, R, etc.,). Also, familiarity with DTI specific programs: ExploreDTI, DSI Studio, Dipy, DTI-TK, or TrackVis are highly desirable. Background knowledge in standard neuroimaging analyses: image segmentation, registration and visualization. 

Competencies

Applicants must be self-motivated, detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.

The ability to communicate and collaborate with a highly interdisciplinary group of clinicians and basic neuroscientists is necessary.
